Inexpensive Ways to Remodel a Bathroom

Cheap ways of sprucing up your bathroom.

Most people believe that transforming a bathroom from a dull and drab affair to a stunning and gorgeous part of your home can cost an arm and leg. Of course this can be true, but not necessarily so.

You can start by literally looking up. If your light is nothing more than a bulb at the end of a wire dangling from the ceiling, get rid of it. There are so many designs of lighting systems now available that choosing one is actually bewildering. There are chandeliers, wall sconces, pendants, and track lights. Frames may be finished with chrome, bronze, brass, or paint. The lights themselves may be wrapped with clear or colored glass.

Sprucing up your vanity mirror can also help. If it is old and scratched, get a new one. If not, you can add a new trim or frame around it to make it look more vibrant and appealing. If you have a vanity and it can be repainted, then do so. Again, look for a color that livens up the bathroom. Just be sure it complements your walls and floors. If it could not be painted or if you are not up to it, you can at least change its knobs or door handles. Shiny metal or colorful plastic can go a long way in improving your vanity’s look.

Replacing old faucets is also an economical way to add dash to your bathroom. Like lighting fixtures, faucets come in countless models, with some finished in chrome, ceramics, brass, gold, and even glass. Designs are very innovative that they can be considered as true works of art putting to shame the ancient screw-down top with a curved pipe directed downwards. You can change the faucets in your sink, shower, bathtub either all at once or one at a time to help ease the expense.

A new floor may be more on the expensive side of remodeling but often stores renewing their inventories or closing shop conduct clearance sales. Look out for these opportunities. Be especially attentive to materials that you can install on your own to limit your installation costs to needed adhesives or grouts.

With these things in mind and a little imagination and creativity, your dull and drab bathroom can become dazzling and dramatic.
