Therapists believe that a hot soak can actually help ease a lot of body pains common among the elderly and the disabled. Getting in and out regular bathtubs, however, can be a task for them that they often need the assistance of other persons. Still, they can be more independent with a Safety Bath Serenity and Stretch Walk-In Bathtub.
The bathtub is fitted with a door that opens out like a car door. This makes it easy for both the elderly and the disabled to get into the tub, especially so because of its low step entry, which is only 4.25″ high. Also like a car door, it is equipped with special rubber seals made of extruded silicon rubber that prevent the seepage of water once it is properly closed.
Accidental slipping is minimized, if not eliminated, with the tub’s non-slip surface both on the seat and floor. A grab bar on the door also provides support while walking into the tub.
The tub has a comfortable molded seat and back that is large enough for six-foot-tall persons, and which are so configured that you can sit with the water level up to your chest. It can also support a weight of up to 300 pounds. Molded armrests are included.
A built-in hand-held shower comes with the tub. It has adjustable scald guard taps allowing you to precisely control water temperature. It does not have its own heater though, relying instead on your home’s centralized water heater.
Constructed out of marine grade gel coat fiberglass, the Safety Bath Serenity and Stretch Walk-In Bathtub is durable and resistant to scratches and stains. It also has fire retardant properties. The tub comes pre-plumbed with all plumbing fixtures supplied. All you need to do is attach it to a supply pipe and it is ready for use.
Overall measurements are 33.5″ W x 29.5″ H x 43.5″ D. Seat height is 10.5″, while the door opening is 16.5″.
